Ahh, in that case you shouldn't have a problem using the Business class. The tones file is actually fairly straightforward. I'll give an example for you: <ToneName>ResortOwnerTone.ResortOwnerCareerHoldMeetings</ToneName> <FullClassName>NRaas.Gameplay.Tones.CareerToneEx, NRaasCareer</FullClassName> <CareerGuid>ResortOwner/CareerGuid> <OnlyMetric>True</OnlyMetric> <MetricCount>1</MetricCount> <MetricRate1>1</MetricRate1> <MetricType1>MeetingsHeld</MetricType1> <MetricHoursUntilChanged>4</MetricHoursUntilChanged> I've actually got all this in a Word Document from all the old resources Twallan used to have up on the website. I don't think Chain's got around to re-adding them to the new one yet. I've no idea where the Tones file is for the game itself. I'm not entirely sure that's how they code them anyway - I think Twallan added it into the Careers mod to make the process easier for us all. Yes, we generate the new FNV64, then change the first two numbers to correspond with your chosen language. What was happening when you imported the STBL, the FNV64 hashing worked fine but changing the first two numbers didn't 'stick', so to speak. That was the problem with the original BLANK career file Creon made with his original tutorial and why ThomasRiordan had to give separate instructions (which are the ones I've included). You're more than welcome to give it a shot, though. It might work, it might not. The game can be so temperamental and so can it's code!

Yes, that's how I thought it might look but since I tend to avoid special tones (I realized that I rarely use them. In your Estate Agent career, I realized it's much easier for me as a player to have the sim read the photography books - since I have 0 qualms about using a mod to make them buyable in a non vacation world). It's definitely useful for the tone to be there and very realistic however. I just don't use it (did I mention I'm a weird player?) I wanted to ask before I plunged ahead.
I can see the problem now. Since it's already there I might try it anyway but yeah, I can see why we create a new STBL file. It just got me thinking that if we make a new one and run it through the STBL creator and all, why do we abandon it and do it all over again? It felt like an unnecessary step (the running it through the STBL creator bit) but now I get it.

No problem! I don't always use the special tones myself - it depends how I'm playing.
It should only be the UnhashedKeys file that gets run through the STBL creator - not your language one. You write the language one out in Notepad first, then copy and paste the lines into the new file in your career.

I know, yet I always end up running the language through the STBL creator and then do nothing with it because I always remember too late I'm not supposed to do that...

You had me going there, I thought I'd done something stupid in the tutorial

Nah, just me being silly (and incapable of following simple directions, it seems!). I do the unhashed, run it through, do the language strings, run them through, remember I'm not supposed to do that, delete the stbl file, create a brand new one...

Hi jobe and welcome to the forum! I'm afraid I don't work with YouTube Videos. Is there anything in particular you're struggling with? I'm always happy to help!

what is difference between <BLANK> and </BLANK>

They're the opening and closing tags. Each line of code has an opening and closing tag; the opening tag is <BLANK> and the closing tag is </BLANK>. The BLANK itself will depend on what you're doing, which is explained during the tutorial. I hope that helps

Hi! I just want to firstly thank you so much for putting such a detailed tutorial on here. I worked really hard on creating my career however I find when I go to join it there is absolutely no text showing on the offer or anywhere else in the job. Do you have any tips on what might be wrong? I combed through all the career titles, blank spaces and removed any spaces around the code but still, it doesn't show

First of all, welcome to the forum! This is really common. Have you checked and made sure the language string file you made has an Instance ID that match the language of your game? If you check back through the Language Strings part of the tutorial and make sure you've been through the bottom part of that section. Since there's no text showing up, it sounds like that could be your problem.

So I went back over and did what you said about the string file but it wasn't working still so I combed through the whole tutorial again. I actually had a TAB somewhere in the careers file (i had to go View - Show Symbol) in Notepad ++ and i may have copied the <KEY> portion of the key lines into the English file along with the line. I did it all again and thank god it is now working! Thank you so much for your help! This is amazing!

Hi,
I am looking for some help with a custom career I've tried to make. I think I've done everything ok (perhaps not?) and the career shows up in the game but there are no descriptions or job titles showing up. The days, salary, icon and tones are all there but no level names or descriptions?
Please, do you have any idea what's gone wrong?
Thanks.
