I love supernatural, but I feel like there are not many careers specified to occult sims. I have the idea for a witch coven career... maybe only nighttime hours? The last level of the job could make you the head of all witches in the coven. For skills, spellcasting, alchemy, charisma, broomriding . 1. Initiate - M,T,W,TH,F 6PM- 2AM performance factors 2. Familiar Caretaker- M,T,W,TH,F 7PM-3AMperformance factors- mood
- broomriding (5)
- spellcasting (3)
3. Grimoire Organizer- M,T,W,TH,F 7PM-3AMperformance factors
- mood
- broomriding (6)
- spellcasting (5)
- Alchemy (3)
4. Beginner witch/Warlock- M,T,W,TH,F 9PM-5AMperformance factors
- mood
- broomriding (8)
- spellcasting (6)
- Alchemy (5)
at level 5 a split in the career, to choose between black magic or white magic5b. Spellbinder 5w.Seer T,W,TH,F,SAT 9PM-5AM performance factors- mood
- broomriding (8)
- spellcasting (6)
- alchemy (7)
6b. Occultist 6w. Charmer/Charmtress SUN,M,T,W,TH 10PM-6AM performance factors- mood
- broomriding (9)
- spellcasting (7)
- alchemy (8)
7b. Voodoo Mage 7w. Sage SUN,M,T,W,TH 10PM-6AM performance factors- mood
- broomriding (9)
- spellcasting (8)
- alchemy (8)
8b. Sorcerer/ Sorceress 8w. Miracle Worker M,T,W,TH 11PM-5AM performance factors
- mood
- spellcasting (9)
- alchemy (9)
- Charisma (3)
9b. Necromancer 9w. Enchanter/Enchantress T,W,TH 12AM-4AM performance factors
- mood
- spellcasting (10)
- alchemy (10)
- charisma (5)
10b. High Priest/ High Priestess 10w. High priest/ High Priestess SUN 2AM-4AMperformance factors- mood
- spellcasting (10)
- alchemy (10)
- charisma (10)
And the tones are Business as usual: Practice spells and hexes -- Increases spellcastingWork Hard: Magic Hard Take it Easy: Admire nature Meet coworkers: Mingle at the Wheel Of The Year Celebration Hang with coworker: Telepathically message coworkers Suck up to boss: Raise High Priest/ess's spirits

Hello cinnamonsta232 and thank you for submitting your career request! I'm not sure about MissyHissy gameplay and modding style - but personally, my gameplay and modding is not really turned towards occult sims, unless there is a strong scifi vibe to it. Do you have more career ideas that leverages occult sims' powers with scifi type of storytelling / usage? (This thread brings up a thought for me: you know what would be cool MissyHissy? Night time "Degree" careers for occult and night owl sims so they could attend university at their best hours!)

Hi MissPatTS3 I don't have any scifi themed ideas atm, but thanks for your reply !

This looks like it could be a fun career to play! Work is kicking my butt currently so I can't really promise I'll have the time to work on it in anytime soon, but may I toy with it in my spare time cinnamonsta232? I'll give you a head's up when it's ready and we'll be in touch, of course. MissPatTS3, MissyHissy, any kind of nighttime career would be useful actually. Like you said for occult sims or night owl sims or even for careers better suited at night time. PS, anyone knows if coding the work times for night time is the obvious 18-02? Any chance the game will choke on it, since the end of the shift is earlier than the beginning of it?

That's awesome news T1gerCat ! Love when the career modding community comes together to help ideas come to life. Thanks for pitching in, I'm going to mark the thread as "work in progress". As I understand it ( MissyHissy correct me if I'm wrong), custom careers work hours can be anything you want, not just 18-02. The game should not choke on it, since you actually state the "start time" and then you state the day length" and that's it. The code looks like this: <StartTime>9</StartTime> <DayLength>8</DayLength> So if you set "Start Time" to 18, and then set "Day length" to 8, sims in that career would technically end their work day at 2am the next day. Does it help?

Glad to hear it interests you, T1gerCat Lets for sure keep in touch ! EDIT: I've tried it out, and have unsurprisingly come across a script error lol Maybe you could check it out? Should I attach the script error or the package...?

cinnamonsta232, I love supernaturals but I often get bored with playing them. Having a witch-specific, for example, career would definitely be good! I'll be on the lookout for the career!! MissPatTS3, That's how I was thinking it'll work too but, you know me, sometimes I get fuzzled out by the easiest things! Random question, do you think it'd be as easy as it sounds to add a shift choice in the beginning of a career? It'd be a branch basically but called a shift so a sim could choose to work during the day time or night time. Can a branch choice even work so early in the code or should it be after the first level? Sorry for hijacking your thread cinnamonsta232!!

Can a branch choice even work so early in the code or should it be after the first level? MissyHissy has created the most complex branching system in custom careers with her "Medic" career. There's a split at level 2 so yes you could definitely make it work, see the Medic career diagram here: missyhissysjobcentre.wordpress.com/2019/01/24/medic-career/

It'd need to be after the first level but yes, you absolutely could do that! What a wonderful idea!

MissPatTS3, Haha I know! I almost always look up details on Medic and Archaeology careers when I flesh out one of my own careers! MissyHissy, Do you think it'd be an easy task to add it to the premade careers? Considering they're coded differently than our careers, and all? Changing my own careers with shifts might be time consuming but it doesn't sound too hard.

Changing my own careers with shifts might be time consuming but it doesn't sound too hard. Not as easy but I should think it's probably still possible. You could probably create an override for the chosen career by using the same GUID. So for example, if you wanted to add branches with shifts to the Professional Sports career, you'd create the career as you normally would but use the same GUID and scripting class. That, in theory anyway, should override the existing career and allow you to work from scratch. This is purely an experimental idea. I honestly don't know how overriding a career would work but theoretically, I see no immediate problem.

I downloaded a couple career overrides (I *think* I had gotten them from MTS) ages ago but never properly read them. I'll put it on my list to do so and see how they go about it. Adding shifts would be a good step towards making the gameplay just a little bit more realistic.
