This may sound weird, but it is an idea that I have that kind of goes hand in hand with the Late Night expansion. I've written out all the planning (following instructions on your tutorial for making a career) but I keep failing at the coding. The idea of the career is that you're new in Bridgeport and you can earn a little money working in a diner and work your way up. I'll attach the plan. Edit 4: DinerEmployee_Career.package (20.58 KB)

Hello @sunsetvall3y, a warm welcome from the team to the forum!
Love the career plan so far (how couldn't I, Bridgeport is my absolute favorite TS3 world). Please tell us more about where exactly you fail at the code? If you upload your "failed" package file, Missy can probably spot coding issues and make suggestions so you can get your amazing idea through the finish line!

Honestly I don't know where I failed, I'm just really struggling to get my head round the Unhashed Keys I think it's called? I also was getting extremely confused and kept deleting or leaving blank bits that I shouldn't have. I'll upload what I have so far as an edit to my original post. 🙂

Hey @sunsetvall3y and welcome to the forum! I've had a look at your file and it's looking good so far! You're on the right track and doing great. Looking at your plans, you're doing really well. In the DinerEmployee.Careers file, there's only a bit of tidying to do. It looks like you've struggling with the metrics a bit, is that right? From what I can see, you've done a great job so far. You can delete metrics you're not using. In most of your levels, I can see you've still got unused metrics there, so you can safely delete those. Level 10 doesn't have any metrics. Now, I can see where the confusion is; the top level of any career still has metrics. When a sim reaches the top level, they still gain work performance and when the bar is filled, they get a pay rise. So the metrics at level 10 help determine what they need to do to keep securing pay rises. Make sense? So you'll need some metrics for level 10. Once you've done that, that file is done and you can pat yourself on the back. You're doing a great job! The UnhashedKeys aren't as scary as they look. Simply open up a new Notepad (or Notepad ++) file and paste the text from this post into it. You're just literally filling in the BLANKs with information from your career. To start with, leave the BLANKs in the <KEY></KEY> fields because you'll deal with them later. So fill in the BLANK pieces within the <STR></STR> fields. I've annotated the text to try and make it easier for you to understand what goes where. Was there any bit in particular you're struggling with, or is it the UnhashedKeys as a whole? When you've finished filling out the BLANKs in the <STR></STR> fields, you need to hash them, which is explained in the post I linked to above. Let me know though if there's anything in particular you're stuck on though. Good luck!

Thank you, and also the bit I was struggling with was: "All the <KEY> lines in this file are exactly the same as the <STR> lines in the UnhashedKeys file, so you can copy and paste those if you wish.". Some of the blanks in the new file don't match up with the previous file and that's where I got really stuck.

You don't have to worry, I've got a similar template for the language strings for you to copy and fill the blanks again.

I finished the mod, and put it in my mods folder but it isn't working in the game. (the option to join the career isn't showing up when I click on a diner. I will attach the package file to my original post, is it OK if you check it to make sure I didn't mess up?

I will attach the package file to my original post, is it OK if you check it to make sure I didn't mess up? Okay, I've had a look for you and I can spot a couple of issues. 1) In your DinerEmployee.Careers, you've got a tag at the very bottom that says </DinerWorker> when it should say </DinerEmployee>. So right now, the game probably isn't reading your file. 2) You don't have any working language strings in there, so the career would show up blank. Are you still a bit confused at that stage?

Hello, sorry for the late reply! I think for the language strings issue, I just forgot to add it into the package lol. When I get back to my PC i will add it in and reupload the attachment.

Well I don't see any problem with the coding now. Just take out the BLANK strings file you have in there and you should be fine. So does it now show up in your game?

I'll just double check: you've definitely got Nraas Careers Mod installed, haven't you?
