Thank you!!!!
I like the idea behind the professions, if not how they're written/coded. The first ever career I gave my sim in Sims3 was the Writer Profession because the careers were seemingly the same as with Sims2. It's partly why I want to rewrite/convert/whachamacallit the professions into rabbithole careers so my sims can still use them but I both don't need to hold their hands while they work and a crapton of townies can flock to them without my game being slower than a turtle.
Oy vey! At this point I'm thinking or uninstalling/reinstalling the game and/or start career testing mod free! To my knowledge I don't have career interfering mods, aside from the ones from NRaas, but I'll go through them with a fine tooth comb.
My favorite kind of hood! A blend of everything and anything on offer. Last time I fired up the game, I began removing the big rabbiholes from Sunset Valley and trying to stick them to more manageable sized lots so I could keep the few large lots for private residences or for the lots that need a lot of space, like the Equestrian one with all the needed equipment. I love the rabbothole rugs and doors so incredibly much already so having a huge closed off stadium may look beautiful but it's hardly needed, you know? Step 2 is move he beach lots into the water a bit, so my lifeguard sims can actually advance in their career.

No problem Sometimes a reinstall or a mod free folder isn't such a bad idea, is it? I've done that quite a bit for career testing when I'm creating. Yeah, Sunset Valley needs a lot of work to include features from all the EPs, but it's got such a good layout!

I'm not a fan of filling a world with every club or bar or lot type imaginable so that leaves me quite the room to work with thankfully especially for a world like Sunset Valley that's chock full with 30x30 lots! Thankfully I have no aversion to the RH rugs and doors and that helps a ton. My number 1 thing to do is to remove the police station and the military lot and add them to the city hall via RH doors and then delete the abnormally large gym and put the one from Moonlight Falls where the police station used to be. Both 64x64 lots are suddenly free and the gym can become a multilevel hangout. Then I tend to tear down the duplex lot with the pool and put a RH rug infested lot for the Into The Future careers and add the Time Portal. I love those careers but both related buildings are a bit of an eyesore in Sunset Valley. After that I just add the Vault in the same lot as the library and the Gypsy Caravan with the Criminal RH and I'm covered career wise.
A mod-free game is a great way to make sure which mods I consider needed and which ones I just like using!

For small towns like Sunset Valley, I feel like it only needs one pub/bar, one lounge and one dance club. Any more than that is just taking up space. Doesn't it always seem a waste to put rabbithole buildings on 64x64 lots though? I very rarely build houses on those sized lots but they're perfect for leisure centres, museums etc. I often set myself a goal to play with minimal mods and CC. Then I remember something else I can't play without and it usually spirals from there!

Preaching to the choir! I thought I had a handful of mods only, turns out I have 80 and about 10 more in folders bundled up to be used if I want to play something that includes them!!
With Sunset Valley I put the small street with the 30x30 lots to good use there and put down the consignment store, the elixir store (often I put the two together in one lot to save space since they basically do the same thing) and then put my bars in a row. A seedy one, a dance one, a lounge and a supernatural hangout and that feels too many really. I don't know about small towns in the US but small towns in Greece have about 1 bar/club and 1 or 2 coffeehouses, unless the town is close to a university or close enough to bigger town/city to be a weekend getaway.
I keep my 64x64 lots either for rich sims (I'm guilty of evicting the Altos and the Landgraabs there and keeping their original lots for the sims I'm playing with so I can keep an eye on them) or for something that would make sense if it was a bit away from the town, like the big Nectary lot or a home based university. This time I deleted the Criminal lot and put the cave looking one behind Summerhill; so I used it's original lot for the Film Studio. It just barely fits (the RH only from build mode) but it looks good there.
When it comes to houses, I prefer 40x40 to play in. Small enough to be cozy yet big enough to be roomy but Sunset Valley has a precious few 40x40 lots and I hate playing in a lot, only for the camera to focus on the neighbors too. It's funny at first, annoying later so I keep my main sim up on the legacy lot in Summerhill a lot. Of course then I have a normal sized house in a huge garden!

80 is definitely more than a handful! More like a fistful, perhaps? Yeah, I've no idea what US towns have. Normally small towns in England only have a couple of pubs (I live in a large market town and we actually have 6 pubs but that's not the point. It's Cornish, they like a drink). We actually have no clubs at all, you'd have to go across to Devon for that. I've done that before with the film studios, on the old criminal lot. Works quite well, especially if you us moveobjects to shove it back a bit. Then you can do a tiny bit of decorating at the front!

Well, at least I got rid of all my sliders except the ones for pets (those are actually needed for realistic pets)! I never realized how many mods are needed to make toddlers, kids and teens act their age...
You know, if the mental image I have about pubs from the TV is correct, then it's a type of venue the game could definitely use instead of "sports club, dance club, disco club, pool club" and so on. Give us different places to send our sims that actually are different instead of of the same thing with a different lot assignment.
I usually put the film studio door on Mirabello plaza since the theater is there but now I thought it'd go well in the criminal lot since it's both busy yet alone. Plus the criminal cave makes use of a beach my sims never use, since they either need to run/walk/cycle there only or take a water taxi. I like secluded but my sims seem to disagree!

It's funny, all the years I've been playing this game and the only customs sliders I use are awt's hat sliders and the X rated jobs from SexySims Absolutely, the pubs are a lot more versatile. I usually create them using the 'Dive Bar' assignment. Most English pubs will have darts, pool, a bar, possibly piano, that type of thing. Basically everything from the three different bars rolled into one because lots of guys get together t watch the football there! Nobody asked the Sims their opinions on seclusion, now did they? I like the idea of using the cave though on that beach. I often turn the Wolff Manor into a resort and use the beach below the cliff as a private, water-sports beach.

My first ever sliders were the boob and butt ones from MTS along with the penis ones from Sexy sims, then I got a whole lot more because they were packed with a mega mod and realized I'm not actively using any sliders so I chucked them all away. My sims don't wear hats either, mostly because my game refuses to listen to me when I create outdoors only hairstyles and I end up with sims wearing cowboy hats and reindeer pjs to bed...
I have a couple of the x-rated careers too. They definitely help with the bills when I want an artist sim, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! LOL
I've heard of players doing that and I admit it sounds like a great idea. I keep wanting to add a resort but I never know where to put it (the waterfall lot has appeal but I'd have to build the resort myself then, lol). I usually put the mentioned bars, a family fun hangout (games, pool, bowling, skating (ice and normal both) and an eating area) and then turn the 30x30 lot on the beach strip into a casino. I got a ready made resort 'n' casino with a live stage once and plopped it into a 64x64 lot but it was both glitchy and my sims couldn't use the casino or the stage without going on a vacay at the resort, so that killed my dream of a proper Vegas-lite hotel in the world.

When I said X-rated jobs, I meant the X-rated sliders. I didn't actually know there were careers over there until the other week. I've apparently had a sheltered existence. I've often toyed with the idea of a resort on Summerhill Court in Sunset Valley, with a theme park on one of the other lots, and a large 'water' park on the other, with a food court in the middle. I've never done it, just toyed with the idea.

You poor thing, I corrupted you!! I'll admit, it's strange to have a sim-town where everyone has respectable jobs. Some sims may want to earn their paychecks flat on their backs, *snort. To be honest, I was kinda surprised there's only a handful of x-rated careers! Turning the Summerhill lots into one massive park area sounds like a great idea! I keep wanting to try my hand at a big outdoors park with rides and the train feature from Roaring Heights but I keep doing other things instead. I've been imagining it as one funfair kind of deal with food court, the carousel from the store, games and so on. But I've read in the forums it can be glitchy too so that definitely hasn't helped my mood! I used the premade gondola lot once and it was so incredibly slow I ended up teleporting my sims out mid-ride. As it is, I usually edit the lake in the middle lot to give it a better shape and put various park and playground items around it along with more fish spawners.

I think I was corrupted long before that. It's just added to the general corruption. Yeah, me too. It's funny, there's literally just been a request gone up for an X-rated one. I'm guessing we're not the only ones thinking it. I suppose if you included the Nraas Kama Simtra skill, it could get quite fun. Might have to experiment with that, it's not normally the kind of thing I do. But it might be fun. I've never had any glitchiness with the rollercoaster stuff and I've used it A LOT. I do loads of those funfair lots, including the ferris wheel from Mod the Sims. I love them. Yeah, the gondola can be slow but I think that's meant to be the idea. After all, it's designed as a quiet, romantic trip. Not one to take the children on!

Well, I did a fresh reinstall the other day so I might give it another go. After all reinstalling fixed the elevators, somehow! The gondola was so incredibly slow that I put my sims in there in the morning and they were still there at nighttime, and it was the premade lot (which didn't fill me with hope that the lot might have been badly designed). If it's still too slow I might try to see if there are mods that speed it up (or search for the file that controls the gondola and see if I can maybe speed it up a bit), much like the mod for a faster classic car at Modthesims. I use the classic car a lot (so far, it's the only car with proper animations, let alone the sims can woohoo in it) so that mod is a must have for me.
About the rollercoaster, I must admit I never tried it. I have it but everyone else seems to have so many problems with it, that it stopped me from trying it. But if it's a simple ride around the lot with everything else in the middle, it might be good? I'll see when I have enough free time to load up the game again.
I saw that request! It's definitely a well thought-out career and I agree, it can definitely be a fun one!!

Well good luck with that! Maybe that's just what the game needed. Yeah, I don't think the pre-made lot was all that well thought out. I've used the gondola on a track I built myself and while it was slow, it definitely wasn't THAT slow! I've never had a problem with it. Maybe mine got sprinkled with fairy dust or something. A simple ride around the edge should be really straightforward and issue-free! Go for it! It is. I think I might add it to The List.

Or I'm just that unlucky!! I'll definitely try a couple simple rides and see how it goes!
Add it, add it! What I love about sim careers is that no two people can have the exact same idea so having more than one x-rated career will help with the realism part as well.
