After spending months working on this, I finally managed to sort out retirements. In your .Careers XML, there's a line that looks like this: In there, put in: YourcareernameRetirement. So for example, using my Advertising career, I had: I've also put in a value on each level that allows the Sim to retire at any level in the career. To do this, simply add this value: to each level. To get the text to show up for the retirement, you'll need to add it to the UnhashedKeys and Languag strings files. In the UnhashedKeys: And in the language strings:
In the STR, put in something like "Retire" or "Retire from..." and whatever your career is. This should then show up at the rabbithole. I haven't found out how to get them to retire using their phones, but at least this is something!

I can't seem to get your tutorial to work. I also installed t888 's Retire By Phone mod and that didn't work either. Do you have a career on your job board that has the ability to retire that I can look at, @missyhissy ?

All I can say is you might've missed a line somewhere, do you have the <CanRetire>True</CanRetire> true lines at the levels you want to be able to retire? As on my custom career I have the mod I made and those lines at the last 2 levels on 2 branches and I've successfully retired my character as an age froze young adult. Be sure to pay attention to any missed '/' also as that will mess up your code and not work. Look it over very carefully. My mod does work as long as the right steps are taken.

creativecreator: Quite a few have been updated to include retirement. The retirements in this tutorial are for elders only - could that be it? As t888 said, if you make sure you have <CanRetire>True</CanRetire> at each level. That should enable any age category to retire. Double check your Language file - that could be where an error is that prevents the 'Retire' from showing up

No the retirement tutorial works for retirement and my mod makes retirement by phone work for Young Adult and Adult as well as Elder so the age is unimportant as long as my mod is installed. So its most likely a small error in coding somewhere. I'd recommend Notepad++ as once you get used to it it can help you figure out a line with errors in it quickly.

I must admit, I never look for my Young Adults and Adults to see if it works - good to know it does, thank you.

I figured out what I did wrong. Silly typos like what you two said. Thanks t888 and @missyhissy.
