Hi Missy, can I ask you something? I'm writing an opportunity for my sim to teach a seminar at the school. However his job is set at the school as well. Do you think it'll work having the workplace and the seminar RH being the same or should I switch the seminar to be held at the city hall? Have you tried it before?

That should work fine at the school, too. What might work best is if you make sure the Completion event is going to work. That way, the opportunity can only be completed once the kVisitedRabbithole runs as the event listener THEN the sim goes to work on their next shift.

That makes sense. Yeah the idea is he's teaching the seminar and the completion event is him going to work. I was afraid that the rabbithole being the same, it'll have issues. BTW, you were right, once you write a few opportunities, they do seem to make more sense! Speaking of, do you know if the "go to lounge, order a drink" one is written in the latenight files? I must be going blind because I can't find it.
BTW, I have a problem with outfits. In your standalone Outfit tutorial, you say the final outfit should be in an *.outfit format but in your more recent mega tutorial you say it should be a *.simo format. When I try to add the SIMO format, S3PE gives me a blank (as in completely empty) name with an UNKN format. When I use the OUTFIT format, it seems to work but in your careers you have SIMO tags whereas I get OUTFIT tags. Where am I going wrong?

For that matter, CASParts folder has one fullbody outfit and the same oufit with _Unlock in the name. . Am I right to assume it's because the outfit is hidden? Should I put both in the new outfit?

Yes, the drinks one is in the file. For quickness, I've copied it for you: <OpportunitiesSetup> <ProductVersion>EP3</ProductVersion> <GUID>EP3_Celebrity_OrderSpecificDrink</GUID> <Icon>w_lifetime_rich_and_famous,EP3</Icon> <RepeatLevel>Always</RepeatLevel> <EventListenerInfo1>kSimOrderedDrinkFromBar,CocktailLoungeCelebrity</EventListenerInfo1> <ChanceToGetOnPhone>10</ChanceToGetOnPhone> <OpportunityType>Location</OpportunityType> <Target>Venue</Target> <TargetData>CocktailLoungeCelebrity, CocktailLoungeAsian, CocktailLoungeVampire</TargetData> </OpportunitiesSetup> So as long as you get the venue type in the TargetData tag, you're good to go. It's an Outfit file. I've corrected the Mega tutorial, thanks for pointing that out! They come as SIMO tags in s3pe but the file to import is an OUTFIT file. For those, I usually only use the one without the Unlock, where possible. I don't think it matters much but I never use both.

So there is no separate completion event? I'll have to note that down, thank you!!! Just to make sure then, because I jumped in with both feet . I save as OUTFIT, not as SIMO (even though the SIMO saving option still gives an OUTFIT extension) and it automatically gets the tag SIMO. I was probably fumbling it somewhere because S3PE gave me an OUTFIT tag when it did read it. And in case I forgot earlier, THANK YOU so much for the mega tutorial. I love how it has everything together and how much more detailed it is. Definitely saves me opening all your tutorials in tabs and picking from each of them as I write careers now

Doesn't look like it. It's interesting because when I code opportunities similar to this one, it's the event listener I go without; I use the Completion event only. Interesting stuff! You're welcome! It does get a bit confusing with the OUTFIT and SIMO extensions. Once you get used to it, it becomes automatic That's why I try to write out my tutorials before I get too 'used' to a method; when the steps become automatic, it's difficult to break it down. You're welcome, I'm glad it's helping!

It is definitely helping! And hey, if it's good for my noob brain you can imagine how helpful it is for everyone else After a LOT of trial and error, I figured out where I was going wrong with the outfits. When I reached the "write outfit" bit in SimOutfitter, I renamed the saved outfit instead of keeping the "numbers_oufitname.outfit" the program gave it. Doing that meant S3PE couldn't read it properly no matter what extension I gave it. Keeping it as is means S3PE can read both the OUTFIT tag properly and the chosen outfit name I want. I can finally have outfits! About the opportunity, do you happen to remember which career(s) of yours includes it? for the life of mine I can't find it in the gameplay file nor in the LateNight files and I'm the kind of person that definitely learns from examples. I took your Archaeology career apart to see how to code buffs as the win/lose rewards, the journals and writing books. Between your Archaeology and your Medic careers, I feel like I've finally understood what's going on in a number of opportunities!!

I haven't got an exact but I've got one similar; it's in my Bartender Career and it's for moonlighting at the bar: <OpportunitiesSetup> <GUID>Bartending_MoonlightTonight</GUID> <Icon>Bartender_Pic_s</Icon> <RepeatLevel>Always</RepeatLevel> <IsTotaled>True</IsTotaled> <CountOrTotal>6</CountOrTotal> <EventListenerInfo1>kWorkedAsBartender,Totaled,6</EventListenerInfo1> <Target>Venue</Target> <TargetData>DiveBarSports,DiveBarIrish,DiveBarCriminal</TargetData> </OpportunitiesSetup> So it really looks like opportunities like this don't require a completion event. I know they work fine, you if you check out my Bartender, you can see how that one works. I do the same, for the record. Arsil got me started with the opportunities but it was diving into the files that really made the difference for me.

I have your Bartending career (ok, I have most of your careers) but I admit I never noticed (or got, maybe?) the opportunity so far. I'll take a looksie to see how you do it, now that I know it's there. You're right though, reading the game files is definitely useful when you get used to how they name things/where everything is and how they code it.
I guess it'd be too much to hope EA would some day include directions on how to use their code to add to it, lol

I think I'm just incapable of finding the opportunities file in the gameplay data. So if that ^ is the <OpportunitiesSetup>, the <Names> would go on as normal and the <OppotunitiesRequirements> would be this? The <OpportunitiesCompletion> would go on as usual, I assume?
<OpportunitiesRequirements> <GUID>Cheerleading_OrderSpecificDrink</GUID> <Requirement1>WorldHasCommunityLotType,DiveBarSports,DiveBarIrish,DiveBarCriminal</Requirement1> </OpportunitiesRequirements>
