Arsil over at Mod the Sims has just answered a prayer of mine (and possibly many users of the custom careers). He’s created five vanilla rabbithole doors, much in the style of Jynx’s rabbithole rugs and doors, with all the interactions removed. And you can assign a custom career to the rabbithole. This will mean you can create a lot and have just the custom career on it.
For example:
I use the Lifeguard Career and would like to use it in the leisure centre/gym. Ordinarily, I’d have to put a Spa rabbithole rug/door/building on the lot for my sims to go to work there. But with Arsil’s mod, I’d be able to edit the Lifeguard Career and change the RabbitholeType to one of his custom rabbitholes and place that door on the lot. And therefore, I’d have only my Lifeguard sims use that rabbithole door.
This is exactly what I've been wanting to do!
Go get the doors here!

I have actually downloaded them, but I haven't tried them in game yet. Although IF I can find the time to work on the project I want (way too many of those laying around), I will definitely need those!! It is definitely a must have.

These look great but I haven't tried them yet as I'm still figuring out what I want where. Definitely want to make a veterinary clinic at some stage, so I can use Missy's vet career in a proper setting and they'd be perfect for that!

I was reading through the comments and he's added the script for an additional five doors/rugs, with instructions, and the ability to create and 11th. So that would allow 11 lots with specific careers. That's incredible

Oh I might have to go check and redownload if there is a new version available. That does sound really interesting.

I'd love to be able to get a world where I could create the buildings for the careers and use it as my career test world. These doors/rugs would be perfect for that

Oooooh, so now I can have a "university" building attached to Rachel's majors? (Yes, I'm still using those instead of real uni. Off-world uni wouldn't quite suit me and I never found out if homeworld uni is possible with Nraas's mods.)

I just downloaded the new file with the 11 doors, and I got his explanations on how to turn them into rigs, which I will do... probably tomorrow now. Then I will have to test it in the world I have installed a few more things, in a temporary folder, but still I am afraid the game won't load at all And Laura, I have still not tested that. I have seen it done though, with NRAAS and Misty's rabbithole rugs. I don't know, I guess I like visiting the uni world

Yeah, Homeworld Uni is possible with the Careers Mod. I haven't played it myself, but I do know it's possible to set up Good luck with the testing, Reena!

An interesting thought occurred to me this morning regarding these doors. I've been tempted to create versions of my careers already assigned to one of the doors, but obviously some would have to double up, which would kind of defeat the object of the new doors. BUT... if the careers use to <lotdesignator> tag, you could work it so several careers use the rabbithole (Say Arsil 1 for argument's sake), but they'd only show on certain lots. EXAMPLE If I assigned the Accountant, Law and Pharmacist careers to Arsil's Rabbithole 1, all three careers would show on that door. But if the Accountant career had this line: <lotdesignator>Office</lotdesignator> And the Law had this: <lotdesignator>Court</lotdesignator> And the Pharmacist had this: <lotdesignator>Pharmacy</lotdesignator> ...the careers would only show on certain lots. Food for thought

That would completely work. I had thoughts of using the <lotdesignator> but with normal rugs, which would have made the EA Careers show up in places I did not want them particularly. But with Arsil's door or rug, there is no EA Career linked to it. The only problem might come if someone places several buildings on the same lot, then... not sure. They could use a normal rug. But yes, overall your idea is great!

Yeah, I often do combination lots. In which case, the regular rabbithole rungs or Arsil's doors would be fine, as they are. But I was just toying around with the idea of using these in my own towns, and this could be where I'll finally get some use out of the <lotdesignator> tag

I'm out of the loop here: what's <lotdesignator>? I'm intrigued!
